History-Shiv Parvati Wedding Triyuginarayan Temple
Triyuginarayan Temple, located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, holds immense religious significance as the sacred site where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were united in holy matrimony. The temple is believed to date back to the Satya Yuga and is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology.
According to ancient scriptures, Goddess Parvati performed intense penance at Gaurikund to win Lord Shiva’s love. Impressed by her devotion, Lord Shiva agreed to marry her. The celestial wedding took place at Triyuginarayan in the presence of Lord Vishnu, who took on the role of Parvati’s brother and gave her hand in marriage. Sage Narada officiated the divine rituals, ensuring the wedding was performed as per sacred traditions.
A unique feature of the temple is the eternal fire, known as Akhand Dhuni, which has been burning continuously since the time of the wedding. It is believed that this sacred fire witnessed the divine union and has never been extinguished. Devotees collect ash from this fire as a blessing for a prosperous and harmonious married life.
